I like to keep up with each and every character (writing ...

Karen Rose has WAY TOO MANY characters in her stories. I like to keep up with each and every character (writing notes on them on paper). Many of the characters are mentioned only once and have nothing to do with the developing story and I end up with a list with many names that don't even matter. The sex part is more explicit than I care to read about, although it doesn't go on and on - but the buildup is there throughout.

I usually love Karen Rose's books, but this one just didn't hold my interest. Usually I read a good book in about two days but I have been struggling with this one for over a week and I honestly don't think I am going to finish it, which is a shame because I am 3/4 of the way through. It just feels like too much of a struggle.

It is very well written, so that's not the problem and that's why I gave it 3 stars as opposed to 1. I just think there is too much going on. Too much killing. Too many characters. Too much to keep track of. I'm having a hard time remembering who's related to who and who fits into the rapes that happened in the previous books and keeping track of who is killing who. It's just confusing me and making the book drag. It would help if I remembered the first two books, but I read them a long time ago and I am an avid reader so I've read many books in between. And I don't want to have to go back and read them again just to understand what is going on in this one.

Like I said, it's well written. I just think there is too much going on and it makes the book drag. I do look forward to her next one though.

This book sat on my bookshelf for a while before I found the time to open it. It has treasure in it! Very readable, practical and spiritual. Her candor is refreshing which makes it hard to resist the godly encouragement to let the Lord be the ALL in your life. He will work out the details. I found it very helpful and very encouraging. Other books have made me feel like a failure or that it's so hard to be a godly wife. She says that being what we should be takes the power of God. That is what her message is - not a "how-to" book (well, it is sort of) but more of a "go-to" (God) book. It hit the spot for me at this time in my life. I like her style! REAL!

Twelve-year-old Atua’s childhood didn’t consist of video games, television shows, or computer time. He grew up on the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica and spent his days playing outdoors, participating in surfing competitions, and learning how to grow food. Now, as the rainy season drenches Costa Rica, Atua is off to visit his Grandpa Art in Upstate New York.
But the flight attendants don’t look well, and the other passengers on Atua’s plane are acting strange. A fight breaks out, and the next thing he knows, Atua’s waking up in the wreckage of the aircraft, miles from his final destination. And as if things weren’t bad enough, the downed plane is surrounded by the flesh-eating living-dead!
Tammy, a rugged girl of thirteen, has seen the plane go down and is determined to find and aid any survivors. Now Atua and Tammy team up in a race to Syracuse to find Atua’s Grandpa, desperate to out-run hunger, exhaustion, and hordes of crazed, bloodthirsty Zombies.

About the Author
Born in Las Vegas raised in Costa Rica since the age of 3. When he was only 9 years old, Atua Mo’e began making Fiverr Gig surf videos. With the money he made from those videos, he was able to buy his own computer and continue his creativity online. Now with the help of his dad, Atua has been able to re-invest his video money in putting together a team to help him create his first Zombie novella, NY Zombie Run.

This book is awesome!! And I actually know the kid who wrote this personally! He's really nice and if you knew him, you would be surprised he wrote a book! He is actually from Costa Rica and that's how I met him. This book keeps you on your toes and is a story about TRUE friendship! It's makes you jump at times with the powerful sentences in every paragraph! I know if you read this book you won't regret it, I sure didn't! And I am psyched for the second book to come out!! About the Author
Joseph R. Boyle is a former elementary special education teacher. In his special education classroom and other settings, he taught students with mild to moderate disabilities. These students included students with learning disabilities, mild to moderate cognitive disorders, traumatic brain injury, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, and Asperger's syndrome. As a special education teacher, he has collaborated and co-taught with general education teachers and other school professionals. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in Special Education. Through research at various universities, he has developed a number of classroom interventions for students with mild disabilities in the areas of reading and note-taking. Joseph R. Boyle is currently an associate professor of special education at the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. He has taught or currently teaches courses for university students in undergraduate to doctoral programs. Among the courses that he taught at Rutgers and at other universities include: methods and materials for special education, collaboration and consultation, introduction to special education and special education law, assessment in special education, special education behavioral management, language disabilities, critical issues in special education, and technology in special education classrooms. He has also taught several courses online and in other web-based formats. His current research interests include examining the effectiveness of teaching techniques among students with mild disabilities, particularly in the areas of reading and note-taking. He has co-authored three special education casebooks and numerous journal articles.

David Scanlon is a former high school and community college special education teacher. In his high school resource room he taught students with a variety of disabilities, some were mainstreamed and others took most or all of their academic courses with him. In the community college he taught basic literacy courses and assisted with advising for students with disabilities. He received his Ph.D. in Special Education and Rehabilitation from the University of Arizona. Following his graduation he worked as an assistant research scientist at the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. There, he and his colleagues developed strategic interventions appropriate to the inclusive content-area classroom context. While at the CRL, David served as director of intervention research for the National Adult Literacy and Learning Disabilities Center. The Center was funded to identify best curricular practices in adult basic education. David Scanlon is currently an associate professor of special education in the Lynch School of Education at Boston College. He teaches courses for students ranging from undergraduate to doctoral students. Among the courses he teaches are an introductory special education class, special education methods for regular education teachers, methods for special education teachers of students with mild disabilities, and investigations into scientific and social theories on the nature of learning disabilities and special education practice. He continues to research effective interventions for children and adolescents with mild disabilities, including focuses on content-area literacy and transition. He has co-authored several learning strategies, in addition to curricular materials and nearly fifty research publications and book chapters.

About the Author
Elias Khoury, born in Beirut, is the author of thirteen novels, four volumes of literary criticism, and three plays. He was awarded the Palestine Prize for Gate of the Sun, which was named Best Book of the Year by Le Monde Diplomatique, The Christian Science Monitor, and The San Francisco Chronicle, and a Notable Book by The New York Times. Khoury’s Yalo, White Masks, Little Mountain, The Journey of Little Gandhi, and City Gates are also available in English. Khoury is a Global Distinguished Professor of Middle Eastern and Arabic Studies at New York University. As Though She Were Sleeping received France’s inaugural Arabic Novel Prize.

Humphrey Davies’ translations include Naguib Mahfouz’s Thebes at War (American University in Cairo Press, Anchor Books) and Alaa al-Aswany’s The Yacoubian Building (AUC Press). He has lived throughout the Middle East and is currently based in Cairo.

About the Author
Dr. Roland Wernecke has been the manager of a company which develops and manufactures moisture measurement devices for industry and laboratories for over 20 years. He obtained his academic degrees from the University of Dresden and the Academy of Science, Germany. Dr. Wernecke is a member of numerous technical committees and organisations for standards. He advises companies and organizes seminars and workshops on moisture and humidity measurement for industry and research. He is involved in numerous cooperations with institutes and universities in the development of new methods for the measurement of moisture and humidity in gases, liquids and solid materials.

Jan Wernecke is a physicist at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, the German national metrology institute, where he is currently finishing his PhD thesis. He studied physics at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, at the Universit? Joseph Fourier Grenoble, and at the Australian National University in Canberra. He gained experience in the fundamentals and practical aspects of moisture and humidity measurement during various project works, for example on ambient climate monitoring and on the survival of organisms in a simulated Mars atmosphere.
